About Encore
Building the Future of Music in North Devon
Music has the power to bring people together.
It builds confidence, sparks creativity, creates friendships and gives people somewhere they belong.
Yet for many people, learning music becomes an individual experience. Students attend lessons, develop their skills, and eventually reach a point where they ask:
What's next?
For many musicians, there isn't a clear pathway beyond private lessons.
That's why we're building Encore.

Our Story
Encore began with a simple idea.
North Devon is home to talented musicians, passionate teachers, fantastic venues and a thriving creative community. But while there are excellent opportunities to learn an instrument, there isn't always a clear route that connects learning with collaboration, performance and long-term musical development.
Too often, musicians learn in isolation.
Bands can be difficult to find.
Performance opportunities can feel out of reach.
Many people never experience what it's like to rehearse, perform and create music with others.
We believe there should be a better pathway.
Encore is being created to help bridge that gap.

More Than Lessons
Encore isn't another music school.
Instead, we're building a collaborative network of independent music educators who share the same vision for music education.
Our learning partners continue to deliver specialist private tuition through their own businesses, while Encore creates opportunities that individual teachers often cannot provide alone.
Together we're developing opportunities for:
-
Band placement
-
Rehearsals
-
Workshops
-
Live performances
-
Community projects
-
Creative collaboration
-
Progression beyond the lesson room
It's about creating a complete musical journey rather than simply offering lessons.

A Different Way to Learn
Some of the most valuable lessons in music don't happen during one-to-one tuition.
They happen when musicians rehearse together.
When they solve problems as a band.
When they learn to listen to one another.
When they step onto a stage.
When they create something they couldn't achieve on their own.
That's the experience we're working to build.
Private lessons remain at the heart of every musician's journey, but they're only the beginning.

Our Vision
We're working towards a future where every musician has access to a clear progression pathway.
A place where people of all ages can:
-
Learn from experienced specialists
-
Develop confidence through collaboration
-
Join bands when they're ready
-
Perform in front of live audiences
-
Continue growing as musicians throughout their lives
We believe music education shouldn't finish when the lesson ends.
It should continue through real experiences, meaningful collaboration and opportunities that inspire people to keep creating.

Looking Ahead
Encore is currently bringing together independent specialists in:
-
Drums
-
Vocals
-
Guitar
As the organisation grows, we plan to expand into additional instruments, workshops, recording, music technology and wider creative opportunities.
Our long-term ambition is to establish Encore as a progression pathway for musicians across North Devon, creating opportunities that connect education with the wider music community.
